This is (Mama) Maxine, a strikingly beautiful and sweet one year old DSH Tortie that is now available for adoption.
Petite little Maxine was pregnant, living outdoors and ready to give birth when she came upon a home with the front door wide open.
She walked inside and found a cozy spot in a spare room, settled down and gave birth to 6 sweet babies.
She knew it wasn’t safe outside. Such a smart girl ☺️ Maxine also brought a companion with her – a 5 month old sweet teenage kitten that we suspect was from a previous litter she had. We named her Macy, who is very petite just like Mama Maxine.
We learned later that Michael, the renter of the home, keeps his front door open during the day, but closes it at night, so Maxine would go outside during the day to find food and return before Michael closed the door at night so she could tend to her babies.
After a few weeks, Michael heard kittens meowing and after searching the entire house, he discovered Maxine, her teenage daughter Macy and six little kittens.
He called his landlady, asked for help and she called us. We corralled everyone and brought them to a foster where they were all safe, fed and well taken care of.
Maxine was an incredible, loving mom. Everyone has all been vetted out and currently being showcased for adoption. Mama Maxine is now ready for her forever home.
Maxine has tested negative for feline leukemia, FIV and heartworm and is microchipped. Her adoption fee is $140.
